What is GMP+

GMP+ stands for Good Manufacturing Practices Plus.

It is an international quality system for animal feed safety. Think of it as a kind of "HACCP for feed", demonstrating that your company handles raw materials and processes in the feed chain safely, responsibly and reliably.

In addition, there are European guidelines, such as the Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC), which requires member states to promote waste separation and meet recycling targets. The Netherlands has translated this directive into national legislation.

Why is GMP+ important:

1. Market access

Many customers (feed companies, farmers, exporters) demand GMP+ certification.
Without GMP+, you often don't even get shortlisted.
GMP+ allows you to offer your product to a wider, international market.

2. Trust & brand equity

GMP+ shows that you work according to strict safety and quality standards.
This reinforces your brand positioning as professional, reliable and sustainable.
You can use GMP+ in your communications (website, packaging, offers).

3. Part of CSR / ESG strategy

GMP+ fits perfectly into a sustainable and responsible business story.
It helps you demonstrably meet requirements around food safety, traceability and risk management.
This is attractive to customers, investors and supply chain partners who focus on sustainability and transparency.

How can you use GMP+ commercially?

Positioning: Name GMP+ in USPs ("Safe & certified")
Branding: Use the logo (as per guidelines) on the website, presentations, etc.
Sales: Use GMP+ as proof of quality in tenders
Content marketing: Write about how your company contributes to safe food chains
Partnerships & growth: GMP+ opens doors to new markets and collaborations.=

Summary

GMP+ is a seal of approval for feed safety that builds trust, increases market opportunities and positions a company professionally and sustainably. As a marketer, it is therefore a powerful tool to strengthen a company, open doors and substantiate your story.
